What it does
An account history is a sequence of days. Each day holds confirmations (an MT900 for a debit, an MT910 for a credit) and the statements that report them (MT940, MT942, MT950). SwiftStory works out every balance from the history, so the statement a test system receives tomorrow opens with exactly the balance it closed with today.
How it works
Statements that chain
An MT940 or MT950 opens with the previous statement's closing balance and books the confirmations it reports. Field 60a always equals the 62a before it.
Interim reports done right
An MT942 reports entries during the day without booking them, so the day's MT940 can report the same entries again without counting them twice.
Pages and balance updates
Split a statement across messages with intermediate balances (60M / 62M), move a balance without entries, and set uncleared funds and up to three forward balances.
Statement numbers from the history
28C is worked out from the history: a final closing balance ends a statement, an intermediate one continues it. Generate in any order and the numbers stay the same.
Shift, copy, reuse
Move every date of a history at once, copy entries between days, and give the same history to as many accounts as you like.
Swiftly's CSV still loads
Histories import and export in the CSV layout Swiftly used, so a 2012 export opens unchanged.
